I'M BRENDAN AND THIS SCARES ME
WING WALKING ENGLAND
SEASON 1 • EPISODE 5 • SEASON FINALE
Challenge: Wing Walking on an Airplane
Series: I'm Brendan and This Scares Me
Episode: Season 1, Episode 5
Special: Season One Finale
Fear looks different when you're standing on top of an airplane thousands of feet above the English countryside.
For the fifth and final episode of Season One of I'm Brendan and This Scares Me, I traveled across the Atlantic to England to take on what might be my most outrageous challenge yet: wing walking.
Not sitting inside an airplane. Not jumping out of one. Actually standing on top of one while it flies through the sky.
When I started this series in Hawaii, I had no idea where facing my fears would take me. From skydiving at 18,000 feet to investigating the Lizzie Borden House, swinging over the canyons of Moab, and racing a Lamborghini in Las Vegas, every adventure pushed me further outside my comfort zone.
But this one was different.
As a firefighter, veteran, and father, I've spent much of my life learning how to remain calm when things get uncomfortable. But there's something entirely different about voluntarily strapping yourself to the wing of an airplane and trusting a pilot to take you thousands of feet into the air.
In Episode Five, I travel to England for an experience that very few people will ever attempt. From the anticipation leading up to the flight to climbing onto the wing and feeling the wind rush past me as the aircraft takes off, this documentary captures the nerves, excitement, disbelief, and adrenaline of an unforgettable adventure.
But this episode is about more than standing on an airplane.
It's about everything that brought me here.
Five episodes. Five incredible adventures. Five opportunities to let fear make the decision for me.
And five times I chose to face it instead.
When I created I'm Brendan and This Scares Me, I wanted to show my children that being afraid doesn't mean you have to stop. That the things that scare us can sometimes become the stories we remember for the rest of our lives.
And that sometimes, the only way to discover what you're capable of is to do something you never imagined yourself doing.
Season One began with me jumping out of an airplane.
It ends with me standing on top of one.
Fear is temporary. Stories last forever.
